database views were not an option available in this environment) to handle various Oracle modules (GL, AR, AP, PO, iExp) with full
Oracle session security.
Instead of the usual consulting contract I'm usually involved with, running the reporting parts of an Oracle Apps project team, this was

Working in the Consulting Division of ARIS Software, I consulted at numerous client sites ensuring the successful installation of ARIS NoetixViews (customized Oracle Application views). This required knowledge of many Oracle Application modules (GL, AR, AP, OE, PO, INV, BOM, WIP, CST, PB, PC, FA, AOL) and Oracle database objects (tables, views, system administration, etc.).
Much hands on work at the client site was required (Unixes, NT, etc.) and closely worked with the client's DBA to successfully setup their environment, troubleshoot, etc.
Additionally worked with the client's reporting/query administrator & management.
After installing NoetixViews on the customer's server hardware (Unix, NT, VMS, Winframe/Citrix, etc.) I worked with the client's reporting team to customize their report/query tool to allow users to access their data through these views (Oracle database objects) transparently. Any query/reporting tool the
client used was my responsibility to know well and therefore required quick understanding if not a mainstream tool.
Indepth training to the client's technical and functional users was usually required (as part of a program ARIS Software Inc. sold them) so users could 'hit the ground running' with whatever query/reporting tool they were using accessing their online data through NoetixViews.
I also assumed the Consulting Manager's position of scheduling clients, consultants, courses, etc. in an extremely busy schedule when he was not available.
An extreme amount of travel was required for this position.

from a Sperry mainframe to a DEC/VAX cluster for the government and creating an internal security system using VAX Basic/Datatrieve for
the Municipality of Burnaby.

As the head of computer operations for the National Observatory Project, I managed the Computer Services Department of
KACST's head office in Riyadh, supervising a team of Saudis. Responsibilities commenced with the centralization of all
National Observatory Project computing facilities throughout Saudi Arabia.
Other responsibilities included: performing an analysis of the Saudi's training needs, preparing proposals containing recommendations
with a complete training outline including the VMS operating system, Fortran, VAX Basic, VMS systems management and systems program
development and design, in charge of the conversion / development of training a new system of programs concerning computer weather
collection, created complete documentation for all existing software systems and operations management to ease the transfer to the
Saudi Arabian Government, under Director's request, supported analytical and communications software on newly acquired computers
throughout KACST, prepared the initial phase of the addendum to the final report required for circulation in the international scientific
community for analysis, and in charge of all VAX/VMS systems management.
Continual liaison with internal and external Saudi Arabian Government departments was required.

I initially joined with SANCST in charge of all five National Observatory Project site computer operations.
I was responsible for analysis, coding, testing, implementing and documenting all existing and newly developed software
including databases, data collection, hardware drivers, communications programs, and extensive statistical analysis software.
The analysis and troubleshooting of users' problems and support of the software was also an ongoing commitment. I initially converted
many programs and data files from an LSI-1103 RT-11 to a VAX 11-780 VMS but was soon required to oversee the creation of new programs
to support the system.
With the successful completion of the project, I was responsible for managing the creation of programs and data used to analyze and create interim,
plus final reports needed by the Saudi Arabian Government and for publication in the international scientific community.
During all phases of the project, extensive air travel throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was required.
